Outfit of the Night

Hey everyone!
Last night was the closing ceremonies for my program! It was an amazing year and it's really bittersweet.
I wore an orange dress from H&M, fuchsia heels from Aldo and had a flower headband from Asos. The theme for the ceremonies was ascot!

We watched performances and slideshows recapping our year. My favourite part was the disco that we had after.
Everyone came together for the last time and danced the night away to old school music like Backstreet boys and Spice Girls the whole night! I've had an amazing time and won't forget it. Now it's time to focus and study for exams as they are next week!

Leather and cargo

Hola Lovlies,

Today is such a sunny day. My sister and I took the pup on a walk to the lake, taking advantage of a true spring day. People were already wearing shorts, which we thought was a little crazy but those mad Canadians are always ready for summer!

Top || Zara, Jacket || Roxy, Vest || DIY, Leggings || Lululemon, Shoes || Urban Outfitters

I layered my diy military vest with a leather jacket to keep me warm on the walk. I paired it with black leggings, a graphic tank top and vans look a likes to keep a casual look.

Top || Joe Fresh, Jacket || Jessica Simpson, Jeans || AE, Belt || Aritzia, Shoes || Toms

Caitlin wore dark wash jeans with a simple black tanktop, and played it up with her tribal coloured belt from Aritzia. On top she wore her beige parka as a light jacket and her green toms   to pull the looks together.

After the walk we got a hungry and decided frozen yogurt would be a great snack! I got a little excited when they had cotton candy (only the best flavour!)

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend

Outfit of the Day

Hey lovelies,

Its finally the weekend! As this weekend is Easter, my brother and I came home from school for the weekend to spend some quality time with the fam jam!

Today we are taking it easy, went to church this morning and now we are all off doing our own thing. I am finishing off a paper I have due today.

Shoes || Steve Madden. Skirt || J. Crew. Top || Joe Fresh. Necklace || H&M.
Sunglasses || Ray Bans

When I was in Miami in February, I picked up this cherry red skirt from J. Crew. Loving the pleated details, colour and its ideal length, I thought it was time to add some more skirts to my wardrobe. With the sun out shining, and the weather starting to warm up I thought it would be a perfect day to wear it. I paired it with a simple white tee (from the mens section) with the sleeves rolled up and a chunky necklace to keep the look more casual and playful. I wore my new black ankle boots from Steve Madden, which I scored online in the sale!

Spring/Summer footwear

Happy Sunday!
As its starting to warm up, and the days are getting longer we need the perfect footwear to keep us going for the day. These spring trends are straight from the runways for this season.
The perfect work day shoe is a simple twist on the classic ballet flat. Look for flats with a low side to show off more of your pedicured feet! Pointed toes, bright colours and scalloped details are fun styles to try. Adding the slingback like the J.Crew flat ensures your shoes aren't going anywhere as you run for your morning coffee!

The gladiator sandal is a chunky shoe that you can wear for your weekend day trips around the city. Making sure to maximize the amount of buckles is a must, I mean who needs a shoe that is easy to slip on and off! Play with different heel styles; flat, chunky heel or stiletto.

This two strap heel is my favourite look of the season. A shoe that can easily be worn day or night, with pants or dresses, with a chunky heel or stiletto. Keep it simple with a strap across your toes, a closed back and a thin ankle strap. There are so many colours and prints you can look for in these shoes to help chic up your look.

So which shoe are you going to try this spring?

Toronto Fashion Week: VAWK

Hello Lovlies,
Last night I got another great opportunity to help with VAWK fashion show at Toronto Fashion Week, if you remember I first helped out last season. This time I was helping seat guests and direct them once in the runway. Here are some pictures of the night.

VAWK FW13 collection was inspired by the long canadian winters. Sunny Fong brought this to life with his opening black and white film featuring snowy fields, wolves and snow covered trees. Inspired by equestrian wear many of the pieces were combined with either sheer pleating, fur accents or leather accessories.

Spring Clean your closet!

Hey everyone!
Yesterday was the first ay of Spring! Is your closet completely full from your winter clothing? It's time to say goodbye to your coats, sweaters and winter boots! This is the time where you should look at your closet and see what you want to keep or get rid of.
If you have any stained clothing then you can try to fix it by taking it to the dry cleaners! Any pieces of clothing that has holes in them should go! If you have any pieces of clothing that is too big try to get them tailored and they will be as good as new! You should really take your time in considering what to keep. An important question to ask yourself is, Have I worn this in the past year? If you haven't worn this clothing item in over a year it should go in the donation pile or to a friend. You can find a local salvation army to donate your clothing to!  Even though it may be hard to separate yourself from your clothes you have to do it! It may take a while so you can have some of your friends over and make a day or night of it! Whatever clothes you may not want you can give it to your friends and they can do the same when they clean out their closets! Just like the cast of Girls at a DIY sale!
Store your Fall/Winter clothing that you still want in boxes or bags and put them in your attic, basement or another closet. This will create space in your closet so it won't be so overwhelming. Spring is the time where you want to do some shopping to liven up your closet with bright and light pieces! A really good tip is that every time you add a piece of clothing to your closet you should take one out. This will help you keep your closet organized and not full! Another tip is to reinvent your clothing! If you have some basic pieces that you plan on getting rid of think about what DIY you can do before throwing it out!

You can organize your closet in different ways. Shelves and racks can help you stay organized. Consider putting different types of clothes on different shelves and colour coordinating your clothing! Make sure to fold your clothing and don't just put them in a pile. By folding they will stay organized and it will make you happy to look into your closet!  This will also help you pull an outfit together quickly!
I hope these tips help!
Happy Spring cleaning!

DIY: military vest

Well its finally spring! That means it's time to remove those heavy layers, and show some skin!
A few weeks ago I bought a military jacket from a vintage military shop in Kensington. Well I finally managed to find some time to make it into a vest.

The finished product!

This vest helps transition into the cooler days of spring with layers without the added bulk of jacket sleeves over light sweaters. Be creative with your accessories  and don't be afraid to mix textures while wearing it to help transition from day to night.

Have fun DIY'ing and Happy Spring!

Hey Lovlies!

How are we all? Its that time of year again when we get random days where we can tell spring is here, and then it goes back to the cold :(

With the clocks spring forward, and I actually heard birds chirping outside today while I was dreading the monday morning wake up!

Here are some perfect looks for spring, to avoid that heavy coat wear layers! lots of them.

1. A pop of neon to bring some colour to our wintery blacks
2. A classic trench layered with colour makes it fun and casual
3. Layers of chambray shirts (add the polka dots) and a bright sweater make it ideal for the cool spring morning
4. Printed pants and crops the start to a summer trend

Paris!

Hey everyone!

Two weeks ago I went to Paris! It was such a great experience. One that I will remember for the rest of my life. We had spent 3 days in Paris and visited other towns in France in the beginning of the trip. Paris is everything that anyone has ever thought about the city. It is beautiful, romantic and has excellent food! The week was packed with field studies that were required for my courses.

The first day we visited Versailles and it was amazing. I went on a walking tour around Paris. We were able to see the Pantheon, Luxembourg Palace and other surrounding attractions.

The second day, I visited Musee D'Orsay for my Art History class. There were amazing Impressionist paintings in this museum. It is not in the lime light as the Louvre is, but it is just as amazing! After visiting the museum I went shopping on the Champs Elysees. This street had amazing shopping, beautiful view of the Arc de Triomphe and was very busy! This is the main shopping area with the regular and high end stores. After doing some shopping, we went to the Dali exhibit. This is where most of Dali's pieces of work were shown. We had very unusual, disturbing yet interesting pieces. Definitely something to check out!

The next day we went to the Lourve. I was able to see amazing pieces of art. I was really excited to see the Mona Lisa just like everyone else! The building itself was massive and had amazing architecture.Visiting this was definitely one of the highlights of my trip! After the Louvre, we headed to the Lock Bridge to attach locks with our names on it! It was incredible how many locks were on this bridge. There are multiple lock bridges around Paris, but the one we went to was behind the Notre Dame. We went to the Eiffel Tower next! I is just as wonderful as everyone says it is! It was quite chilly at the second level of the tower! There was an amazing view of the city. We went on a night boat cruise of Paris. It was really nice being able to see the city at night!

The next day we headed back to the castle all exhausted! I was a trip that I will never forget.
Until next time Paris...

New Music

Happy Monday lovlies!

I hope you all had an exciting weekend. On Friday one of my besties, Serena, came up to visit me as she has a week off school. We went to Kensington Market, which is like the thrift/vintage area of Toronto. We ended up going into a military surplus store which has a bunch of really old military clothing and equipment, as they were having a huge sale. I bought an oversize military jacket which I plan on making a vest with, so when I get some free time I will post a DIY!

Heres some new music by one of my favourite english boys, Olly Murs!
His new album Right Place Right Time is super catchy, you guys should give it a listen.

Well enjoy!
